One of the year’s most anticipated social events is upon us. At 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, Macy’s will present Glamorama, the 13th annual celebration of high fashion and hot music at The Chicago Theatre. This year’s extravaganza, entitled “ARTrageous,” will feature performances by current chart-toppers Cee Lo Green and Far East Movement combined with electrifying runway shows inspired by the visual arts. The evening’s lineup will showcase the latest fall looks from designer labels such as Marc Jacobs, Tracy Reese and Jean Paul Gaultier, as well as a sneak peek of the Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse capsule collection that will debut at Macy’s at the end of August.

After the show, scenesters will strut across the street to Macy’s State Street flagship, where the entire 7th floor will be transformed into one big “ARTlandish” after-party. With the artistic theme in full effect, party-goers will enjoy various sponsor lounges and experiences set up throughout the city block-long space. The over-the-top lounge areas will include American Express showcasing silhouette artists, OfficeMax offering digital products to design your own avatar, and a Kia Motors experience with works of art created from automobile parts and an Optima-inspired ice bar.

Food and drink options will abound, including 18 fully stocked Patrón tequila bars, a Summit Brewery bar and an array of food stations featuring everything from grilled paninis and late-night breakfast to sushi and a dessert station. The department store’s venerable Walnut Room will be virtually unrecognizable as DJ Rex sets the beat for dancers moving inside oversized picture frames.

Macy’s Glamorama benefits the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana (RMHC-CNI). A portion of all tickets sold will go toward the building of the world’s largest Ronald McDonald House in downtown Chicago. Tickets, which range in price from $50 for the fashion show only to $1,000 for VIP access to the fashion show and after-party, are still available and can be purchased through the RMHC-CNI by calling 630.623.2309 or visiting RonaldHouseChicago.org; or through Ticketmaster at 800.745.3000 or www.ticketmaster.com
