Want to be the next Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, heaven forbid, Clay Aiken?

Season 5 auditions for "American Idol" hit Chicago Sept. 16. Take your shot at stardom, or maybe just bad-singing antics in the first episode!

"American Idol" Chicago auditions
8 a.m. Sept. 16
Soldier Field - Gate 3
1410 Museum Campus Dr.
Chicago, Illinois
Information: http://idolonfox.com, then click on "American Idol Season 5 Rules/Schedule"
"American Idol" producers will begin wrist-banding and ticketing at 6 a.m. Sept. 15 at Soldier Field, and will continue through Sept. 16 at 8 a.m., the audition day. You must be 16 to 28 years old as of Aug. 15, 2005, and you may bring one guest. If you're under 18, bring a parent or guardian. Also pack two forms of ID and the release form available at www.idolonfox.com.

The Web site warns against wearing clothes that "reveal any tattoos, that have designer names, sports teams, or any other logos or brand names, or bearing the name or likeness of a celebrity, living or dead." That's not easy to do for some people, so take note.

Auditions will consist of one a cappella song of your choice. If you pass the first test, you may have to sing two more songs the same way. One will be of your choice and one from a list a producer will provide.
