It’s not confirmed, but maybe producer Dan Austin (Doves, Cooper Temple Clause, etc.), is what made the forthcoming major label debut by People In Planes such a sweet sounding success. Or maybe it’s the parallels they draw to bands such as a rougher Radiohead (crooned by lead vocalist Gareth Jones) or a tamed Lola Ray. Actually, it’s just that People In Planes are, just that solid.

Popping in their self-titled E.P., it’s obvious that the tracks are well-constructed pieces of sonic splendor. The invigorating hooks rope you in as the beats propel the tight and gloomy bass grooves that repeat cleverly. Not bad for a 5-piece band from Wales. All gelling off one another, People In Planes pull off a cohesive sound that after following out the DIY band mantra, caught the eyes, excuse me, ears of Wind-Up Records (Evenescence, Drowning Pool, etc.) to round out a roster that’s as eclectic as they come. Putting in the work, People In Planes have played SXSW as well as the CMJ Marathon in 2005, but it’s the current tour that’s sure to garner massive support. Powered by AkoComment 2.0! |
