Guess who’s back?

Back again?

Slim Shady. Marshall Mathers. Eminem. Call him what you will, but he’s the rapper whom people seem to either love or despise. With his latest album, “Encore” surging on the charts, Eminem has again proven to be one of the coolest people in the game with slick puns, innovative songs and collaborations with rap’s biggest names like Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and Nate Dogg.

His following is immense, and their devotion is uncanny, especially considering Eminem’s maturity level at times. It’s the very same maturity, or lack thereof, that seems to really, really irritate people who already don’t like the controversial rapper. Essentially, Eminem serves as the world’s loudest back-talker and serves as a voice to his fans to stick up for what they believe in. Case in point: in 2004’s pre-election fervor, Eminem singlehandedly resurrected the 60s-era protest song with the single “Mosh,” with its driving beat and accompanying anti-Bush video.

Oh, and don’t forget the name “Shady/Aftermath.” Em’s label is not only enjoying the success of his own release of “Encore,” but will be dominating the rap genre in the next year with releases by both Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, in addition to Eminem’s newest rap protégé, The Game.
