ATMOSPHERE

Upon arrival at the Melting Pot, you look around and think, “Wow this is a nice place.” The lounge sports live music nightly and the bar reminds you of one of those old fashioned hotel bars you see in the movies. Each table has its own fondue warming plate, each waiter is more than happy to put make a show of putting all the ingredients together right at the table.

CROWD

Be prepared to make a night of it! Quickest turnover of tables for a meal is an hour and a half. I spent three and a half hours there. Wide ranges of people swarm to this swanky classic restaurant. There were children wrapping up their evening with chocolate fondue when we arrived. Melting pot is definitely a place to sit and chat for hours. Lots of couples, and groups of quiet celebrations. You will want to make reservations, online reservations available, especially on a Friday or Saturday evening.

ENTERTAINMENT / EVENTS

There is live music every night in the lounge.

SPIRITS

Wonderful martinis for ten dollars, incredible wine! Five pages of the menu boast wines from light to medium to full bodied white, reds, and champagne.

GRUB

Oh my God, the food was love at first dip! We went for the big night out and started with the Wisconsin Trio Cheese Fondue that comes with little pieces of bread, apples, and vegetables. My favorite was combining the cheese with the apples. Then we moved onto the salad course—I highly recommend the California. Main course was incredible and they gladly accepted substitutions for my carnivores self and my vegetarian friend. But! This review would not be complete without talking about the chocolate fondue! We went for the original, but they have several varieties, including Amaretto, Baileys, White chocolate, S’mores and turtle chocolate.

PRICES

You might want to save up for a few weeks or months depending on your budget. You can save some dough if you go for just the cheese and/or chocolate. Both the cheese and chocolate fondues run $16. A full meal including drinks can run you $50-100 dollars for two people.

WHY IT'S UNIQUE

Where else can you enjoy over 250 different kinds of wine, and dip incredible food, each piece cooked exactly to your liking? Filet mignon, Portobello mushrooms, lobster tail, red bliss potatoes, shrimp, and scallops paired with great dipping sauces…seriously just check it out!

I expect more from Lumino. I expect Lumino to show me those off-the-beaten-path restaurants, and not the chains that provide (more or less) the same dining experience in every suburb and city in the US.
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. We try to do both with Lumino...eventually we want to review as many restaurants and joints as possible.
