Xzibit may have been a rapper for a while, but he's best known for one thing that's become an American catchphrase: MTV's "Pimp My Ride." Xzibit hosts the show, which turns boats, lemons and junkers into bright, booming and luxurious vacations on wheels. All the while, Xzibit's charismatic mug beams as his clients are blown away with his creation.
Life wasn't always rosy for Xzibit (born Alvin Nathaniel Joiner). His mother died when he was 9, and he was sent away after hanging around with the wrong crowd in his early teens. Eventually, though, he moved to Los Angeles, becoming one of the West Coast's most promising rappers.
X's major label career began with "At the Speed of Life" in 1996. He's put out five albums since, the latest being "Weapons of Mass Destruction" of December 2004.
Today, the 31-year-old from Detroit has a joyful personality that is a draw for all kinds of viewers, from tots to grandmas. He's already had roles in Eminem's "8 Mile" and "The Wash" with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. He has appeared on late night talk shows as well as "Mad TV," "Weakest Link," and "CSI: Miami."
Xzibit is certain to expand his already bright career in both music and on screen. He's just too lovable not to be someone's spokesman for years to come. Powered by AkoComment 2.0! |
