During the day, the place is open to those under 21, but after 9 p.m., it's like a giant entertainment bar. The Web site's definition hits the bull's-eye dead on: "GameWorks is the high-tech entertainment, restaurant and bar experience where guests can eat, drink, party and play. Each GameWorks venue provides all the best elements of a great night out in one location, including a full-service restaurant with a fantastic menue and casual d*cor; a cool, high-energy bar servicing signature martinis and specialty cocktails; and the most entertaining and interactive games and attractions in the world. It's state-of-the-art fun."The only bad thing about adult entertainment is the cost. If you don't catch GameWorks on a specials night, then you better be ready to fork over some hefty cash, as the games eat up your money very quickly. But, if you do go on a special night, then you can experience the raw facility for a lower cost.
Every Thursday at GameWorks is all-night happy hour. Those who want to get their groove on should venture to The Streets of Woodfield for half price drinks and appetizers. Even better for ladies, they get to play games all night long for only $10. Not too shabby.
On Sundays, GameWorks is a happening place for families. The all-you-can-eat fire grilled pizza, pasta and salad is only $8.95 for adults and $3.95 for children. On some Sundays, there are game specials as well, so if you want to chill with your family, or those under the age of 21, then Sundays are the day to do it.
My favorite game is the balloon game. If you've experienced it, you will surely understand the excitement. You and three other people are strapped into seats that almost look like a giant drop at an amusement park. In front of you is a huge video screen. The object of the game is to knock each other's balloons down to the bottom. Boring huh? The exciting part is that the machines move up and down parallel to the video screen. Every time I have played the game, I have been hit with such a rush that I scream out like a little girl.
For sports fans, there are some great interactive sports games, such as a football throwing game and a basketball shooting game. The basketball game has actual 10-foot rims. Trust me, it's a little harder than those mini-ball shooting games. On top of those, there are also tons of racecar games and even prize games.
There is something for everyone at GameWorks - OK, now I sound like a salesman.
GameWorks offers something for everyone and is a perfect place to entertain a girl/guy on a first date. It will force you to have some fun, entertaining interaction. And, it's a perfect place to break the ice (trust me, I have used this to my advantage). Making the hike to Schaumburg is well worth it when you close out your day with a stop at GameWorks.
