Lucky for you, Prairie Rock Brewery Co. is just minutes away, so you can relieve the stresses of your Gucci, Steve Madden, or Tommy Hilfiger purchases.

Located just off of Meacham Road in Schaumburg, the establishment opened in 2000 and caters to a sophisticated audience. During the week, Prairie Rock is a favorite spot for both business and casual lunches.

"The atmosphere is fantastic, the food is great, and the beer is outstanding," said manager Chuck Kavlock.

Whether you are in the mood for ribs, pasta, seafood, pizza or a simple burger, you are certain to find something tasty on the menu. Sandwiches start at $8 while entrees cost about $15. Paired with one of Prairie Rock's six on-site-brewed beers, the meal is made complete.

Not sure which specialty beer to choose? Patrons can order a sampler of staple beers such as Prairie Light, Pale Rider Ale, Clock Tower Amber Lager and Vanilla Cream Ale, in addition to the seasonal beer, all for $6.

"Our seasonal beer changes about every two months," Kavlock says. "It really depends on how fast the people drink it." The National Association of Brewers awarded Prairie Rock a bronze medal in 2002 for its Pale Rider Ale in American Pale Ale Division. Its Vanilla Cream Ale received the People's Choice Gold Medal at the 2000 World Expo of Beer.

Recently, the Vanilla Cream Ale took third place in the Chicagoland Brewpub & Microbrewery Shootout, hosted by the Chicago Beer Society at the Irish American Heritage Center in February 2003.

In addition to great food and drinks, patrons can also hear free live music from local bands every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. Private parties and banquets are offered in the lower level of the restaurant, where Deep Blue, a blues and jazz nightclub used to be.
