Even though Milwaukee doesn’t have top dance spots like Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, the club scene is OK, and has been made better with the help of Three, a downtown Milwaukee club that features an intimate setting for you to boogie, grind, swirl, or whatever, with your partner of choice.

The bar is not your typical dance club, as it still offers clubbers the chance to converse comfortably above the sounds of the club. However, loud noise is an option as there is a well-defined floor on which to dance to various styles – house, progressive, drum and bass and two-step. The variety comes courtesy of different DJs during the week.

"Call it a cocktail lounge with a dance club atmosphere," reads a statement on the club’s Web site. This cocktail lounge offers the perfect blend of options – from beer to martinis – and all will satisfy. And remember, one of the easiest ways to get enough guts to shake it on the floor like a Polaroid picture is to shoot back a couple of drinks. I sure am one of those people who needs a drink or two to get my butt onto the floor.

Unfortunately, this is not a seven-day club – it's closed Mondays and Tuesdays. But the five days it is open work perfectly. Even better, there is rarely a cover charge. On Wednesdays, ladies will have the time of their lives as they drink for free from 10 p.m. to midnight. On Sundays, the club is transformed into one of Milwaukee’s top gay bars, but with $5 martinis, anyone can venture in and enjoy a sloshed night of hard liquor.

For those looking for a location to host a party, Three is just the place. It offers a VIP room for private parties. Of course, I can’t tell you what the VIP room is like. What happens in that room stays in that room (Just in case Mom is reading).

So, if you find yourself in downtown Milwaukee looking to do a little shaking, head over to Three, because it is one of the city’s top dance clubs.
