ATMOSPHERE
It’s a Tex-Mex feeling in Lincoln Park that almost makes you want to scream ‘fiesta!’ before the free chips and homemade salsa is even served. Adorned with multi-color chili pepper lights dangling from the ceiling, TV’s unobtrusively hang around the restaurant’s perimeter of the cozy downstairs restaurant. The bar provides up close and personal viewing of the ever-so-delicious choices of tequila and margarita madness.
CROWD
Anyone who has a craving for authenticity of Mexican food, whether it be college students on a budget, post-work professionals, or twenty something Lincoln Park residents, The Twisted Lizard crowd is an assorted mix.
GRUB
Burritos, quesadillas and fajitas cover the essential Mexican entrée craving. They also offer vegetarian dishes, as well as salads, lunch sized portions and seven different homemade salsa choices, made fresh everyday, range from mild to very hot! And as an added bonus, the portion sizes are large enough to split or even take home. No Mexican outing would be complete without dessert; and fried ice cream is exactly what your Madre would prescribe. A children’s menu is available for the little ones with options including tacos, quesadillas, flautas and tostadas.
SPIRITS
With drink specials offered every night of the week, you can’t go wrong. Pitchers of sangria run as cheap as $11; margaritas $5.50 and mixed drinks of your choice leave even woozy tequila drinkers satisfied. Mexican beer, microbrews and wine are also offered.
PRICES
The most you’ll be dishing out for an entrée here is $17. Most meals are around $10 to $12 and include black beans and rice or a side. Fajitas can be purchased as a half or full order depending on your appetite.
WHY IT’S UNIQUE
Convenient, cozy and charming, The Twisted Lizard is just right for a romantic outing, after work happy hour, or out-to-dinner-just-because jaunt. Feeling sluggish or just too lazy to leave the house? They deliver. Planning a party or special event? They cater. Fun environment, enjoyable and entertaining, you can’t go wrong at this restaurant.
