In a city like Chicago, there is always something new to experience. But what about experiencing something familiar in a new way? Go see a performance of Stomp, and that is exactly what you’ll do.

"Stomp"
July 18-30
LaSalle Bank Theatre
18 W. Monroe St.
Chicago, Ill.
Stomp is an eight-person international dance and percussion troupe that uses everyday objects to create music and dance routines. Some of the unique instruments that they use include garbage cans, matchboxes, hubcaps and brooms.

The show consists entirely of the music made by the cast. There isn’t any plot or dialogue. And according to the show’s Web site, stomponline.com, there aren’t any political innuendos or anything else to be misunderstood, just music and dance.

Stomp got its start on the streets of Brighton, UK, in 1991 and has been playing in New York City since 1994. It has been the recipient of many awards both in Europe and the United States, including a 1994 Oliver Award for Best Choreography and a Drama Desk award for Most Unique Theater Experience.

The troupe will be performing in Chicago from July 18 to July 30. Tickets cost $20-$55. For more information call 312-902-1400.
