Plain White T's live review Print E-mail

Have you ever noticed that the bar scene sometimes tragically transport you back to high school? People will rip on each other in the midst of trying to hook up under the pretense of finding love.

The only thing they might discover, usually the morning after, are people’s dirty laundry - and this is where the Plain White T’s (PWTs) come in. Spending the night with the PWTs proved to be a great learning, as well as musical, experience for the bar crowd.

The band opened with the title track of their current release All that we need,” and it was apparent that singing about coming clean in a relationship is probably the best solution in life, and it keeps your own laundry nice and tidy. (Ting sound). Most of the songs were locked and loaded targeting the heart of every angst-ridden attendee just waiting to hear their own story coming forth from the stage. This was a young but well versed audience in that most of them knew all the words to PWT’s music, even though this was PWT’s CD release party (well technically this is their second release). This proves to be a fine tribute to an up and coming band in the myriad of sound alike bands that all start with “THE” in their titles. These guys have the rock ‘n roll life down, and are good musicians to boot. Even though guitarist / back up vocalist was unable to sing due to an illness and broke his guitar cord in the foot pedal socket at one point, he carried on and gave great show.

The PWTs mixed up songs from their previous release with new ones. “My only one”, “What If”, “Breakdown”, Your Fault”, “Penny (perfect for you)” and their current single (to which they are making a video of next month) “Take me away” were some sparkling highlights in the show. Almost at the end of the show the lead singer Tom Higgenson gave the band a break while he performed, Hey there Delilah.” This is the song that’s going to be played at all the high school proms this year…believe me, listen for it. The PWTs closed, ironically with “Stop” but came back due to the demand of the crowd and played…well…”Anything”, which was a nice end to an un-scandalous evening. Laundry intact.

I love Plain White T's, but I'm surprised they left out their biggest hit "Hate (I Really Don't Like You)" and all their stuff from their CD "Every Sound Counts."
Eekk... check out the date...

This was a set list from 2005 and that's why they're not on there. Silly! : )
