The remainder of Milwaukee’s theater season has a lot of twists and turns and exciting opportunities for good shows. Overwhelmingly, the themes for the season seem to be love and comedy, and sometimes romantic comedies.
The following are some of the exciting highlights listed by month:
December-January

In this one-man show, Gary Briggle plays actor, singer, playwright, composer, lyricist, director and producer Noel Coward who was in the original cast of “The Italian Job.” Coward’s memorable career is the framework for the show with Jamie Johns on piano. Briggle will perform some of Coward’s well-known songs including “Poor Little Rich Girl” and “Mad Dogs and Englishmen” among others.

“Classic Examples” will be Dancework’s first production in their new home at the Cabot Theatre. The piece has been specially choreographed to induce inspiration from contemporary dance, art and beauty. After being out of the dating world, Haley – a newly singled mother – reenters and has some stories to tell. “Bad Dates” is an off-Broadway hit about the outrageous misfortunes of the single life. The classic portrayal of the innocence of love in the face of the seduction of lust, Skylight’s “Carmen” is sure to light the soul on fire during the cold Milwaukee winter. Skylight’s production will focus on the interactions of the characters during heightened emotions.

In Arabia, where the Sultan is marrying a new wife every night and executes her before dawn every morning, Scheherazade forestalls her death by enchanting the Sultan with her stories. The stories are so compelling that he spares her life to hear the ending. Music by Rimsky-Korsakov.
